More Than 6200 Thoughts A Day Pass Through Our Minds How Many Of Them Are You Conscious Of

According to research by psychologists from Queens University in Canada, who devised a way to isolate thought patterns that focus on the same idea throughout consecutive moments, at least 6200 thoughts pass through our minds per day.

Current scientific estimates establish, some 95 percent of brain activity as unconscious. Among them are, habits and patterns, automatic body functions, creativity, emotions, personality, beliefs and values, and cognitive biases. It takes anywhere from 15 to over 250 days to form a new habit, with up to 40 percent of behaviour being habitual.

Unless we can change these unconscious thought patterns and behaviours, we will never break out of the habitual patterns that we have been programmed into. Influences from past experiences, social interactions with friends, family and society in general have all shaped this part of us that, for the majority of the time, is completely outside our conscious awareness.

There are ways to tap into this world of the unconscious, like hypnosis and trauma work that use breathing methods and EFT tapping, to name just a few.

So I started thinking about how I could work in this realm of unconscious thought patterns within my own practice of being a musician and sound therapist.

I dove into the research and found out that there are three distinct tools at my disposal that could help people change their unconscious thought patterns and reprogram the beliefs and convictions that no longer serve them.

Power Of Positive Thinking

Your subconscious mind is subjective. It does not think or reason independently it merely obeys the commands it receives from your conscious mind.

Just as your conscious mind can be thought of as the gardener planting seeds, your subconscious mind can be thought of as the garden, or fertile soil, in which the seeds germinate and grow.

Everything you are aware of right now makes up your conscious mind. The conversation you are having with your friend, the music you are listening to, or the information you are reading currently is your conscious mind at play. Your conscious mind acts as a portal through which you can reach your subconscious mind.

It receives and stores all experiences and impressions from your conscious mind. As for the unconscious mind, it is believed that you cant access or remember the information stored in it. The beliefs, fears, and insecurities formed through memories and experiences in childhood are stored in your unconscious mind. Although you cant recall these memories, they influence your behavior.

Your first step in harnessing the power of the subconscious mind is to eliminate the thoughts loaded with negative emotions. You also need to stop the negative self-talk or at least make sure that it is not loaded with emotions.

Your fears often tend to come true, especially when you are very emotional about them. And this is why negative self-talk could produce such harmful effects. Eliminating these negative thoughts, or countering them as soon as possible is very important step towards success.

There is story about the guardian angel that always follows you. When you say to yourself my life is awful, it writes down awful life. When you say my job is boring, it writes down boring job. And when you say my body is ugly, it write down ugly body. And then it goes on and grants you all those wishes, because they are filled with strong emotions . That angel is your subconscious mind.
