What Makes You Anxious
Because anxiety is a type of fear, the things weve described fear above are also true for anxiety.
The word anxiety tends to be used to describe worry, or when fear is nagging and persists over time. It is used when the fear is about something in the future rather than what is happening right now.
Anxiety is a word often used by health professionals when theyre describing persistent fear. The ways that you feel when youre frightened and anxious are very similar, as the basic emotion is the same.

The Fear Of Uncertainty Or Losing Control
Fearing the unknown manifests as uncertainty. You know that there is something in the future to be feared, but dwelling on it right now doesnt help. This fear kills dreams. It might lead you to believe that with all those potential threats in the future, something might go wrong, and your goals will be no more.
The brutal truth about life is it promises adventure. Nothing more.
So, conquering the fear of uncertainty starts with telling yourself that everything is uncertain. And whatever threat you are thinking right now might not happen at all.
To conquer the fear of uncertainty, you must:
- Embrace the uncertainty itself.
- Stay focused on your vision.
- Have a plan-B where applicable.
Overcoming Fear In Life By Living By Faith
When I break down my fears, I find that they are caused by one of three things: the unknown, uncertainty, or a disconnect between what God has told me and what the worlds wisdom says. This fourth strategy for how to remove fear from the mind and heart deals specifically with the last cause.
The worlds wisdom is enticing. Its popular, its accepted, and a lot of people follow it. But God doesnt follow the worlds wisdom.
He asks us to walk out on faith and go against the conventional wisdom to follow Him. Hebrews 11:1 says that Now faith is the assurance of things hoped for, the conviction of things not seen. .
My Story: Step Four to Overcoming Fear
Once I prayed about being a writer to God, He spoke to me. God told me to sign up for a writers conference for Christian writers of fantasy and science fiction. It was a huge investment, expensive, and Id have to take time off of work. It was days away, I had not prepared any of the materials that I would need, and I had a full load at work.
I went with the conventional wisdom. I listened to the world and didnt sign up for the conference.
But God spoke to me again. He showed me in a dream that I was being held back by fear and not living in the victory of Christ. He would take care of the details, I only needed to obey and walk by faith.
How do Christians overcome fear and anxiety?
To remove fear from the mind and heart, we must cling to Gods promises, remembering that He is faithful even when we are not.

Identify Your Fears Through Writing
There are times when Ive felt afraid but couldnt identify why. If you keep your fears inside, you allow your mind to control how you feel.
In order to prevent this confusion from happening in the first place, identify what your fears are before moving on to learning how to deal with fear.
What makes you feel afraid?
Instead of just thinking about these things, write them down. When you write down your fears on paper and actually question them, it forces you to analyze why you are afraid. Questions are designed to trigger your fears and bring them to the surface.
This isnt a comfortable process, but deep inner work never is. However, if you continue to keep your feelings in the dark, the scarier they will be, and the more disempowered you will become.
Once you identify the type of fear and the experience that you associate with your fears, you become armed with the power to take action to change them. Eventually, your fears become smaller and smaller, and your strength gets bigger and bigger.
As youre identifying what your fears are, you can try Lifehacks Free Life Assessment. It will help you identify which areas may be causing you more fear and which you can fall back on as strengths.
Face And Leverage Your Fears
If you experience fear, allow it to be your chance to grow. Instead of escaping, face the fear and use it to your advantage.
Most successful people know how to leverage their subconscious for success. They apply techniques like visualization, meditation, and autosuggestion, among others, to get to where they want. You can do the same. Deal with the greatest enemy of success by identifying the fears you have and grasp how you can emerge victoriously.
Using the example above, you can face the fear of harsh treatment by choosing to get serious in a relationship. This way, youll be working towards stability and happiness in your relationships.

Overcoming Fear Worry And Anxiety
If you want to stop living in fear, then its important to work on your thoughts. Because your fears are a result of your thoughts. Those are what create the negative feelings and emotions that hold you back and keep you stuck.
The point of thought work is to get you to act despite your fears. Thats what living with fear is all about. And thats really what courage is.
And heres the thing: you dont have to take big leaps. All you need is to be able to take a first, small step that creates momentum to keep you going. Doing that creates self-confidence .
The effect of taking that first step is this: it gives you faith in yourself and your decisions. Youll know that youre okay despite the negative thoughts and emotions swirling within your head. And youll also know that you CAN act courageously.
What Im describing is the process that takes you from living in fear to living with fear. And it all starts with specific exercises designed to help you face your fears and worries head-on, challenge them when appropriate and act despite them.
The Fear Of Missing Out
![A Prayer of Love to Eliminate Fear [1 John 4:18]](https://www.brainprotalk.com/wp-content/uploads/a-prayer-of-love-to-eliminate-fear-1-john-418-daily-prayer-guide.png)
Also, known as FOMO, the fear of missing out is now more common than it has ever been. Reports unveil that 56 percent of social media users are suffering from FOMO.
FOMO prompts a person to wish they are in a place other than where they are at a specific moment. It makes people focus on what others are doing instead of enjoying the things that life is providing them where they are.
Although digital advancements are effectuating production and other life activities, they are also affecting the anxiety levels of people around the globe. The rise in social media gives people a look at what they are missing out on regularly.
To overcome the fear of missing out, you should:
- Exercise your concentration on the here and now every single day.
- Remind yourself that when you have this fear, its your life you are missing out on.
- Focus on the positive things where you are.
- Realize that the leading cause of this fear is sadness.
- Consistently be grateful for what you have and where you are.
- Remember that social media is a potential threat to your happiness, and avoid making it a real one.

Fear Of Death Wont Make Death Go Away
As children, we would often hide our faces behind our hands and consider a dreaded event to pass us by. With the vivid imagination children have, this was a seemingly workable approach. However, as adults, we know that inner fears can only be overcome by confrontation. The possibility of dying is an inner fear that will only hold you back from living. Another practical approach of confronting your fear of death is to examine the brave people around you who are preparing for their death and leaving an example behind for others to follow. An article published by Dr: Murphy elaborates the death of Nelson Mandela and helps in highlighting his courage in his life and even at the time of dying.
What Do Fear And Anxiety Feel Like
When you feel frightened or seriously anxious, your mind and body work quickly. These are some of the things that might happen:
- Your heart beats very fast maybe it feels irregular
- You breathe very fast
- Your stomach churns, or your bowels feel loose
- You find it hard to concentrate on anything else
- You feel frozen to the spot
- You have hot and cold sweats
- You get a dry mouth
- You get very tense muscles These things occur because your body, sensing fear, is preparing you for an emergency, so it makes your blood flow to the muscles, increases blood sugar, and gives you the mental ability to focus on the thing that your body perceives as a threat. With anxiety, in the longer term, you may have some of the above symptoms as well as a more nagging sense of fear, and you may get irritable, have trouble sleeping, develop headaches, or have trouble getting on with work and planning for the future you might have problems having sex and might lose self-confidence.

Understand The Fear Of Rejection
Our fear of rejection and people stems from our egos. Gurudev Sri Sri Ravi Shankar explains:
Ego creates this fear in you what will others think about me? Are they respecting me or not? Ego gives importance to someone elses thoughts, which are, anyway, momentary.
Gurudev suggests an antidote.
Ego cannot sustain or survive when naturalness takes over, and when you feel at home with everybody.
How can Sudarshan Kriya help?
Studies show that the practice of the Sudarshan Kriya breathing technique produces oxytocin, the hormone that promotes the feeling of trust, empathy, and cooperation. With trust comes the feeling of being at home with those around us. And with that, ego – the harbinger of fear is no longer as strong.
