Synopsis:
From the New York Times bestselling author of The Love Hypothesis comes a new STEMinist rom-com in which a scientist is forced to work on a project with her nemesiswith explosive results.
Like an avenging, purple-haired Jedi bringing balance to the mansplained universe, Bee Königswasser lives by a simple code: What would Marie Curie do? If NASA offered her the lead on a neuroengineering projecta literal dream come true after years scraping by on the crumbs of academiaMarie would accept without hesitation. Duh. But the mother of modern physics never had to co-lead with Levi Ward.
Sure, Levi is attractive in a tall, dark, and piercing-eyes kind of way. And sure, he caught her in his powerfully corded arms like a romance novel hero when she accidentally damseled in distress on her first day in the lab. But Levi made his feelings toward Bee very clear in grad schoolarchenemies work best employed in their own galaxies far, far away.
To say I was excited to read Love on the Brain would be an understatement. Ever since I read The Love Hypothesis I have been devouring the novellas Hazelwood has released and now this book. There was so much to love about it! Without getting too in depth and ruining things for you, let me give you a list of what made this book one you need to pick up.
Love On The Brain By Ali Hazelwood Review
God, I love brilliant writers. They tell a story in such a way that you cannot stop reading. Nothing droll or boring. Just loaded with enough nerdiness and whimsy that you are sucked in from the beginning!
This is a romance but we have to get their back story and feel all of that insecurity we had in school all over again. How did they meet? Why does Levi hate her? What happened to Bee that added such huge anxiety and stress to her life?
This is an enemies to lovers story and I could not put it down. The authors excellence in her character development is truly a delight. I love the interactions and banter between all of them fun and a bit wacky too. Even the self chatter was amusing.
Simply put, Love on the Brain is a delightful story that should not be missed. One of the easiest 5 star ratings in a while. Its flipping bombastic! So much love for Levi too!
5 STARS!

What’s One Quote From Love On The Brain That Will Leave Us Wanting More
Are you going to kiss me?
No idea where that came from. But Im not sorry its out there.
His smile doesnt falter, but he shakes his head. I dont think so, he says quietly. Strands of purple hair brush against his forehead. His cheeks. We are close, so close. He smells so good.
Why?
Because Im not sure you want me to kiss you.

Love On the Brain
I LOVED The Love Hypothesis , so I was incredibly excited to see Love On the Brain pop up on Netgalley and then even more excited when I was quickly approved! I read this 7 months ago, so I literally had no chill about it. I dove in immediately and had so much fun reading this quirky, nerdy romance. As always, my main points are bolded.
1. The first this you should know is that this is not in any shape or form a sequel to The Love Hypothesis. Weve got completely different characters, a different setting, different science, same quirk. Theres no mention of anyone or anything from The Love Hypothesis so, while this is being marketed as part of the same series, its a standalone novel. Science and the author are the only two things that tie these books together.
2. Levi is a major cinnamon roll. Hes the silent brooding type, who doesnt always know how to process his feelings and act on them correctly and is just so sweet. I wanted to hug him and also give him a pep talk. I love how he treats Bee , how he feels about her, and how he sticks up for whats right and fair. Oh my gosh, theres a scene where he has to go save her from a cemetery that she got locked into because she fell asleep after her run, and I was cracking up. And he loves cats. My goodness.
8. Theres some major Youve Got Mail vibes that I loved.

Synopsis:
From the New York Times bestselling author of The Love Hypothesis comes a new STEMinist rom-com in which a scientist is forced to work on a project with her nemesiswith explosive results.
Bee Königswasser lives by a simple code: What would Marie Curie do? If NASA offered her the lead on a neuroengineering project – a literal dream come true – Marie would accept without hesitation. Duh. But the mother of modern physics never had to co-lead with Levi Ward.
Sure, Levi is attractive in a tall, dark, and piercing-eyes kind of way. But Levi made his feelings toward Bee very clear in grad school – archenemies work best employed in their own galaxies far, far away.
But when her equipment starts to go missing and the staff ignore her, Bee could swear she sees Levi softening into an ally, backing her plays, seconding her ideas… devouring her with those eyes. The possibilities have all her neurons firing.
But when it comes time to actually make a move and put her heart on the line, there’s only one question that matters: What will Bee Königswasser do?
The real villain is love: an unstable isotope, constantly undergoing spontaneous nuclear decay. And it will forever go unpunished.
Anyway, Harry Potter is tainted forever, and Im not getting a cat. Why? Because it will die in thirteen to seventeen years, based on recent statistical data, and shatter my heart in thirteen to seventeen pieces.Oh, for fucks sake.
Review: Love On The Brain By Ali Hazelwood
When I was asked to review this book, I was beyond excited! I havent read anything by Ali Hazelwood before but I was well aware of her STEM romance bestseller, The Love Hypothesis. I have The Love Hypothesis on audiobook as well as a hard copy and have been meaning to read it. Then I saw this one was coming out and I instantly added it to my review calendar because I just KNEW I would love this book!
I love that the author features women in academia and STEM, I mean there really isnt anything out there like that and when you throw in a hot romance with book and science nerds I think you really have something that stands out. The Love Hypothesis has gotten a TON of hype over the last year and why not? Its hot new and sexy. Hazelwood has really found a niche genre here and I was so excited to check out this latest book so I could experience the craze for myself.
I also saw that so many early reviews just loved this book. I read some of the early reviews on Goodreads and the closer I got to summer the more excited I was to read this one. I love romance novels in the summer and with the smart and STEM-y-ness of this book, it was sure to be a quick read for me and one that I would enjoy while I was on vacation in Arizona. I mean all of those early reviews couldnt be wrong right?

Swoon Alert: 2022s Best Romance And Rom
Adding to that sense of déja vu is a moment during a particular scene that involves dialogue from Levi that I could swear was ripped directly from Adam in TLH, as well as highly-specific story beats. And adding to that, Hazelwoods choice to write in a supporting character, Bees research assistant, who is a rip-off of April Ludgate from Parks and Recreation, irked me. From her dark hair to her loner vibe to her constant references to loving the occult, the glaring similarities made me wince. Granted this mightve mustve? been a purposeful homage, which is obviously totally fine, but it just didnt work for me personally.
All of this is to say: will every book of Ali Hazelwoods be a watered-down version of the one previous?
Never mind, let me answer my own dumb question: theres no way!
As previously mentioned, her novella series is an absolute blast. Though they followed the same enemies-to-lovers framework that the others do, and all involve women in STEM , the characters and their love interests stand apart from one another, the chemistry is off the charts, etc. Clearly Ali Hazelwood is a great romance writer, and the potential for more grade-A swooning is there. To prove my point, and to make sure you dont think Im starting a Love on the Brain smear campaign, here are a bunch of things from the book that I adored:
Publishers Weeklyjun 6 2022
Bestseller Hazelwood’s charming and intelligent sophomore outing follows a pair of noted young scientists on their rocky path to love. NIH neuroscientist Bee K nigswasser is thrilled when she is tapped for the position of a lifetime: leading BLINK, a program that will build performance-enhancing technology for NASA astronauts. Unfortunately, her co-lead is her graduate school nemesis, Levi Ward. As Bee, who’s still nursing emotional wounds over a cheating ex-fianc , encounters a series of obstacles in her attempts to get BLINK off the ground, she assumes Levi is stonewalling her. She takes to her popular twitter account @WhatWouldMarieDo, where she doles out advice to academics in the voice of Marie Curie, to blow off steam. She finds solace in trading quips and commiserating with the smart and witty @Shmacademics, another popular account, to whom Bee vents about working with Levi while @Shmacademics pines over a married woman. When it becomes obvious to Bee that it’s not Levi blocking her requests and instead that someone else is first subtly, then overtly, working to sabotage BLINK, she and Levi must band together to save their work. The snappy prose, engaging and twisty plot, and utterly endearing characters combine to create pure romance gold. This brainy offering should win Hazelwood even more fans.)

A bee might swear she can see Levi melting into an ally, supporting her acts, seconding her ideas, and devouring her with those eyes. Perhaps its just her occipital cortex playing tricks on her. All of her neurons are firing due to the possibilities. But there is only one question that matters when its time to act and put her heart on the line: What will Bee Königswasser do?
Bee is a neuroscientist whose most recent engagement came dangerously close to derailing her professional trajectory before it had even begun. The once outgoing and chatty woman has been a little more reserved recently, even though she is thrilled about the new professional opportunity that has presented itself to her. Bee is quite excited to begin working on the temporary assignment because it is the kind of project that has the potential to alter the course that the rest of her career will take. That is until she learns who her co-lead will be on the project.
